Fluid Systems Engineer providing airworthy solutions to in-service fuel system problems and defining & certifying fuel systems for derivative aircraft.
- Preperation of an operational database to define all aspects of the fuel system of a civil airliner to be used for sustained engine imbalance analysis.
Mar 1999 to Mar 2004: The Hymatic Engineering Company Limited (Environmental Control System Specialists)
Systems Engineer working in the fluid control department on equipment associated with enviromental control, heating, venting and ancilliary systems of aircraft.
- Fully responsible for the procurement, set-up, programming, networking, maintenance and user guidance of a 16-channel data acquisition PC for use on a development & qualification test rig of a Heating and Ventilation System of a Helicopter.
- Responsible for modifications to product designs including design concepts, prototype designs with supporting calculations and specifications, ensuring conformance with the customer specification and contractual requirements.
- Duties include the preparation of all reports in accordance with data requirement lists, and to undertake product development & qualification programmes in accordance with contractual requirements.
- Included in this task are the design of experiments and the design of test equipment.
Smiths Industries Aerospace - Manufacturers of Electronic Flight Computers and Pilot Display Equipment
Electronic Packaging Engineer (June 1995 - Feb 1999), worked on electronic flight equipment from initial design concept through to issuing of drawings, bills of materials and procurement.
- Detailed analysis of printed circuit boards under vibration and thermal fatigue life of components undertaken.
- Chassis designs include casting and screwed and glued box construction often involving analysis work using finite element analysis techniques (Unix based sparkstation) to verify validity of design under vibration.
- Duties included specifying board areas/space envelopes, connector configurations and construction requirements for Printed Circuit Boards and Flexi-rigids.
- Documents associated with units included mass status reports, comprising details of the centre of gravity and moments of inertia of Equipment.
- Other duties included assistance in the preparation of proposals and work breakdown structures.

- Use of Pro-Engineer in a concept/engineering development role, to create full 3D assemblies.
